I wish that I were stone

I wish that I were stone

Like gargoyles at the cathedral

For them the great unkown

Is just wind and dust into the ether

And the cold earth

Can’t take them where it all hurts

You were happy on your own

Taking care of all your own needs

And you tried to make a home

Without the flowers and the old weeds

In the garden

Can you go back there my darling?

I wish that I were stone

I wish that I were stone
